FIRST Robotics

FIRST Robotics was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen.
The organization has its headquarters in Manchester, NH.
Students involved in FIRST robotics get to learn from professional engineers, build and compete with a robot of their own design, learn and use sophisticated software and hardware, compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments, earn a place in the World Championship, and they can also qualify for nearly $14.8 million in college scholarships.
There are about 2,500 teams, with a total of around 52,000 high-school students (Grades 9-12). FIRST has 58 Regional events, 1 State Championship, 1 Region Championship, and 16 District Competitions. The FIRST Robotics Championship for 2013, will be in St. Louis, MO on April 24-27.

The robots are built in 6 weeks from a common kit of parts provided by FIRST, and they typically weigh up to 150 pounds. This program integrates mechanical, electrical, and computer skills with creativity and communication. The season lasts from January to February. Not only do we compete with actual robots we also compete for the Chairman's award, Animation award, and various others. For more information on FIRST Robotics click here.
